Terms of service
Last updated: May 2026. Version 1.0.
By using Notewell you agree to these terms. Notewell is operated by Kanavulabs, a sole proprietorship based in Erode, Tamil Nadu, India.
1. The service
Notewell is a meeting-notes tool — a Chrome extension and web app that records Google Meet audio, transcribes it, generates a summary, and lets you deliver that summary to recipients via WhatsApp and email. The current version is offered as a private beta.
2. Eligibility
- You must be 18 or older.
- You must have legal authority to record the meetings you record.
- You must own or be authorized to use the Google account you sign in with.
3. Recording consent (important)
Indian law (including the Indian Telegraph Act and state-level wiretap statutes) generally allows a participant to record a conversation they are part of. You are responsible for telling the other participants in your meetings that you are recording and obtaining any consent required by the jurisdiction(s) you and they are in. Notewell provides the recording tool; you provide the consent and lawful basis.
4. Your data
How we handle the data you create is described in our Privacy policy. Short version: you own your meetings, transcripts, and summaries; you can export or delete them at any time; we use sub-processors (listed in the Privacy policy) to deliver the service.
5. Acceptable use
You will not use Notewell to:
- Record a meeting without legally required consent from participants.
- Record content protected by attorney-client privilege, medical confidentiality, or similar duties without lawful authorization.
- Send unsolicited marketing or spam via the WhatsApp or email delivery features.
- Reverse-engineer, resell, sublicense, or use Notewell to train competing AI models.
- Upload audio that contains illegal content (CSAM, terrorism, etc.). We will report such content to authorities.
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates this section.
6. Free tier and usage limits
The free tier currently allows 5 meetings per calendar month and a 60-minute maximum per meeting. Audio is retained for 30 days after upload (less if you enable Privacy mode). These limits may change with reasonable notice.
7. Service availability
Notewell is provided as-is during the beta. No uptime SLA, no warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, no warranty that transcripts or summaries are accurate. AI output is generated by third-party models (see Privacy policy §4); you should review every summary before sending it to a client.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by Indian law, Kanavulabs' total liability to you arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you have paid Notewell in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) ₹0 (zero rupees) during the free beta.
Kanavulabs is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, or loss of data.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Kanavulabs against any claim by a third party arising out of your use of Notewell, including any claim that you recorded the third party without their consent.
10. Termination
You can terminate your account at any time from Settings. We can terminate accounts that violate these terms or that have been inactive for more than 12 months. On termination, your data is deleted as described in the Privacy policy.
11. Governing law + jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Erode, Tamil Nadu.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The current version is shown at the top of this page. If we change the terms materially we will ask you to re-accept them on next sign-in.
