Will my client know I'm recording?+
Indian law generally permits participant recording. But professional norms (and our terms) require informed consent — you should tell them. Notewell does not enter your meeting as a visible bot; what you tell your client is your call.
Can I record without telling my client?+
Technically yes — there's no bot announcing itself. Ethically and contractually, no. Our terms require you to obtain consent under the DPDP Act. For CAs and lawyers, professional codes go further than the law requires. Tell your client.
Where is my audio stored?+
On a Hostinger VPS in Chennai. AES-256-GCM encrypted at rest. Deleted after 30 days automatically (Free tier), 90 days (Pro), or immediately if you turn on Privacy mode per-meeting.
Is this DPDP-compliant?+
Yes — explicit consent at onboarding (versioned), full data export via /settings, account-delete cascade with audio purge, 72-hour breach notification protocol. See our Privacy policy for the full text.
How do I cancel or delete my account?+
Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. Type DELETE to confirm. We purge the org row (cascading meetings, transcripts, summaries, deliveries, share links), delete all audio files from disk, and write an audit-log entry. Irreversible.
Can I record Zoom or Microsoft Teams?+
Not in v1. Google Meet only. Zoom + Teams are on the v2 roadmap. If you want them, email the founder — early demand bumps it up the queue.
Does this work on Safari, Firefox, or Edge?+
Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (Brave, Edge, Arc) only. The recorder is a Chrome extension using Manifest V3. Safari and Firefox aren't on the roadmap because the extension APIs differ enough to require a separate build.
What if recording fails mid-meeting?+
Audio is captured locally in your browser. If Chrome crashes or your laptop dies mid-call, that meeting's audio is lost — there's no cloud backup during recording. The extension uploads only after you stop. Rolling cloud backup lands in v2.
Does it work with my Bluetooth headset or external mic?+
Yes — the extension uses your browser's default microphone. Any input device Chrome recognises (Bluetooth headset, AirPods, USB mic, laptop built-in) works. Switch device in chrome://settings/content/microphone.
Can I export to Zoho / HubSpot / Excel?+
JSON + PDF + plain-text exports are on the Free tier. Zoho and HubSpot direct push ship with the Team plan in v2. Excel/CSV via copy-paste of action items works today.
What languages does the summary support?+
English, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada — and the Tanglish/Hinglish mix in between. Most real calls are code-mixed, and we transcribe that mix well; the summary itself comes out clean (English by default, or one click to Tamil/Hindi/Kannada). Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, and Gujarati transcription is also live via Sarvam AI; summary in those languages lands in v1.5.
What if my client uses a different phone for WhatsApp?+
You enter the recipient phone number per send — we don't auto-discover contacts. Contact presets let you save the WhatsApp-preferred number alongside name + email, so you only set it once per client.
Will my clients get charged WhatsApp fees?+
No. WhatsApp delivery uses your verified business number (we wire this in via KanavuWA). Your client receives a normal WhatsApp message — no in-app fees, no template charges visible to them. You incur the Meta conversation cost (≈ ₹0.35–0.80 per delivery on utility templates).
How much does it cost after beta?+
Free tier stays free (5 meetings/month). Pro is ₹499/month with GSTIN invoice. Team is ₹1,499/month for 3 teammates. Pricing locks at public launch — beta users grandfather in at these rates.
